Try cleaning connector contacts. Also, the later model E46 models have "ribbon" cables connecting the mirror motor to the harness in the door. These are fragile and can crack thereby causing an open circuit. They are not replaceable and you have to replace the mirror motor with the ribbon cable as a unit. M54. I had pressure in the system (which does not help in this case. head gasket replacement under way) and "stop leak" in my heater resulted in no heat. You need to check your system for air, coolant pressure and stop leak. Air is easy. stop leak - you need to flush the heater.
